The Blue Chip Casino is striking twice
16 January 2005
The recent strike at the Indian's Lake Michigan casinos finally sees the light at the end of a tunnel. Three of the casinos reached a consensus but a riverboat remains as yet on a strike.
In the later Friday a tentative agreement was signed between the union employees and the Trump Casino. In the middle of the week, Harrahs East Chicago and Majestic Start Casino have reached tentative agreements, but at Horseshoe casino in Hammond employees have not yet been unionized. For Blue Chip Casino this means that it is the only northwestern Indian casino which has remained without any bridging contract.
The negotiators of Blue Chip revoked the negotiations that had been postponed to Wednesday, according to the Officials with Unite Here Local 1 that represents the service staff members. Despite the announcement of the union on Saturday that the strike will undoubtedly be continued, Rob Stillwell, the Blue Chip spokesman said the negotiations are to resume Wednesday.
