Stanley Ho gaming empire hosts new recreating casino halls
8 February 2005
The renowned Macau tycoon Stanley Ho gaming empire has come to own the 15th casino at the former Fortuna Hotel which caters 35 casino tables. Simultaneously, the very first Macau's Las-Vegas-invested casino has annexed to its facility a brand new recreating gaming room, "Pearl Room" which has been imbued by additional 40 gaming tables to already existing 180 slot machines. The grand opening of the two casino halls was made for tourists, expected to come by to the Lunar New Year travel spree.
Macau's Gaming in the past has been quite successful in business promotion during the holiday seasons. Last year opening of the Casa Real Casino overlapped with the China's National Day and the Greek Myth Casino, amidst the Christmas and New Year period.
The revenues, yielded from Macau's 16 casinos, for the past January reached 3.6 billion patacas ( US $450 million) which donated quite a bit to the economic flourish of the gaming city. All in all, it is an increase of 20 percent from the previous year. Some industry members hypothesize that once the gaming sector is liberalized, Macau's casinos will get unleashed, deploying the number of its enterprises to dozens by the end of the decade. Meanwhile, Macau is the only Chinese city where gambling is legalized but its legislation on gaming limits the number of casino-operating concessions to three.
