The great casino merge is gearing up
7 March 2005
The great merge will occur in the upcoming days if Shareholders from Harrah’s and Caesars Entertainment voice their support on this enterprise. The prominent Grand Casinos in Mississippi might soon be renamed if Harrah Entertainment will eventually adopt their parent company. About 400 people are employed in Caesars which has a Mid-South headquarters in Gulfport and Harrah owns regional offices in Memphis.
The fusion of the two firms might be approved by the end of the month, pending the later support of regulatory commission in Mississippi and other states where casino gambling is legalized. The prospective date for the completion of the merge process is set on June 1.
Harrah’s spokesman Gary Thompson maintained that with the expansion there would be three trademark brands: Caesars, Horseshoe and Harrah's, and the company embarks upon a mission to try to discern what each brand means for the customers in attempt to find certain common variables to lure in more traffic. Approximately 13,750 casino players were recruited for that purpose.
