UK Online Betting Site Betfair Considers Flotation
27 March 2005
It seems that with each passing month, an increasing number of online gambling sites are eying stock exchange flotation. UK internet betting portal Betfair is the latest online gambling site to allegedly consider such a move. According to a report by the Sunday Times, a $1.31 billion flotation attempt can be expected by Betfair. To help the company survey its options, particularly a potential IPO, Betfair will reportedly seek guidance from investment bank NM Rothschild. Since the beginning of 2005, online poker great PartyGaming and online casino company 888.com both disclosed plans to consider going public on the London Stock exchange. With the UK's more relaxed gambling regulations, in comparison to the United States, the LSE has become the unofficial destination for online gaming companies.
