Japanese Casino Gambler Killed for Pulling a Scam
24 May 2005
A Japanese casino dealer and three men were arrested on Tuesday, after a student who had been gambling in the casino died of a brain hemorrhage after allegedly being severely beaten. The casino dealer, Makoto Yoneda, 33, admitted that he and the three others punched Keita Suzuki, 21, in the head and face repeatedly for about three hours, after the student scammed the casino.
Yoneda said that he and the others intended to hurt the student in order to punish him for scamming the casino, but that there was no intent to kill. The other three men surrendered to police, but said that Yoneda was responsible for the attack.
The men reportedly took Suzuki to a local hospital, dropping him off anonymously, and saying only that they had found him hurt and brought him to the hospital. Despite hospital efforts, Suzuki died later that day.
