Online Casino Golden Palace Uses Babies for Advertisement
4 June 2005
Google and Yahoo won’t place pay advertisements for online casinos. Even when they still were, just a single click could cost several dollars. So what can an online casino owner do?
GoldenPalace.com has a unique approach. Their casino is keeping its name all over eBay as the number one bidder for all things unusual. They first got press by purchasing an old cheese sandwich with the image of the Virgin Mary, followed by their purchase of a supposedly haunted cane.
A few months ago, parents sold naming rights for their baby girl, GoldenPalace.com Silverman. It seems that GoldenPalace.com has become a little bit baby-obsessed since then, purchasing ad space on the bellies of two pregnant women, buying a positive pregnancy test, sponsoring a birth, and most recently, they’ve become the sponsors for a new baby. The baby has become a walking billboard (actually a crying, cooing one, since the baby is a newborn), sporting GoldenPalace.com hats, shirts, bibs, and more. It’s understandable, really. Research shows that consumers respond better to commercials involving babies.
They’ve already paid $12,000 for the rights to name one of a set of triplets, and according to company press releases, they fully intend to name a few more babies. With the current trend of naming babies after casinos, one can only imagine schoolyards in a few years. “Hey Bally’s, wanna go over to Harrah’s house with me and GoldenPalace.com?” One is almost hopeful that the United States will take a cue from Denmark and require approval from the government for new baby names.
