Online Casino Golden Palace Buys Fence from Scene of Kennedy Assassination
26 June 2005
GoldenPalace.com is perhaps the best-known among online casinos, thanks to its increasingly outlandish purchases from eBay auctions. The online casino made news twice this week. The first interesting buy was a piece of plaster with a water-stain allegedly resembling Jesus. The online casino paid almost $2000 for a chunk of the Pittsburgh bathroom’s wall.
The online casino’s latest purchase, however, is a bit of history. A section of fence from Dealey Plaza, Dallas, Texas was taken down in January 2000 for replacement. An area tour guide picked up four pieces of the fence measuring 70 inches long and 55 inches high and put them into storage. When the tour guide was unable to pay the storage fees, the sections of fence, which had stood at the famous “grassy knoll,” in Dallas, were sold at public auction.
Although the sections of fence may have been replaced and may not be the original pieces that were there in 1963, when John F. Kennedy was assassinated, GoldenPalace.com paid $32,664.47 for the sections of fence. The fence is from the Dealey Plaza Area, where President Kennedy was supposed to arrive at 12:25pm on the day he was shot. Instead, he entered the plaza at 12:29, and was assassinated a minute later at 12:30. The pieces of fence, which were probably at the knoll at the time of the assassination, will join such purchases as a pregnancy test belonging to Britney Spears, a supposedly haunted cane, a cheese sandwich with an image of the Virgin Mary, and a car that used to belong to Pope Benedict XVI.
