ARGO and IGGBA Merge to Give Online Casinos a Stronger Voice
7 July 2005
IGGBA, the Interactive Gaming, Gambling, and Betting Association, has merged with ARGO, the Association of Remote Gambling Operators. The merger will create a new organization called RGA, the Remote Gambling Association.
The RGA aims to combine the strengths of the two organizations to help the industry present a united front for all issues involving legislation and regulations on online gambling. With the rise in mobile and online casinos, it becomes increasingly important for the industry to establish reasonable representation.
ARGO’s Chairman, Ian Spearing, who is also the Group Director of William Hill, said that the RGA is a good merger of two of the foremost representatives of online gambling. Clive Hawkswood, currently General Secretary of ARGO, will become the Chief Executive of RGA, when the merger is completed and the new organization becomes operational. The RGA is expected to begin functioning fully as of Aug. 1, 2005.
