Gibraltar May Tighten Up Regulation of Online Casinos
16 July 2005
Gibraltar, home to many online casinos and casino software providers, is examining the possibility of tightening up gambling regulations. Hosting some of the largest e-gaming providers, including PartyGaming and Cassava Enterprises, Gibraltar has become a significant player in the online gambling market.
Gibraltar has the privilege of being the only non-EU country with online casinos advertised in the UK. As such, Gibraltar would do well to tighten up their online casino regulations in order to make them match up to UK standards.
A new bill proposes a requirement for a remote gaming license, which would be granted to online casinos that are meticulous in age verification, software testing, and social responsibilities. In addition, license holders would have to disclose more information to the Gibraltar authorities.
