3 Casinos Approved by Mississippi Gaming Commission

On Friday, three future casinos were granted approval by the Mississippi Gaming Commission, a project which totals $500 million in investment. The future casinos have the potential to create thousands of jobs in both Vicksburg and Biloxi.
Gambling lawyer Dan McDaniel, who is involved in two of these projects, stated that these jobs, provided by the gambling industry, are not encouraged by the government.
The Gaming Commission obtained an update on a $150 million capital investment at Vicksburg's already existing Ameristar Casino Hotel. This could translate into an additional 300 jobs at the Vicksburg casino. The $41 million project called Pot of Gold will employ 500 people with its casino, which will include 800 slots, 20 gaming tables, as well as a hotel resort looking over the Mississippi River.
Project developers need to obtain approval from the city of Vicksburg, as well as permits from the commission, approving their development plans, in order to carry on with production.
A $200 million to $225 million casino was also approved, though the casino still remains to be named. This project will employ 1,900 people. Finally, the $235 million Havana Casino Resort in Bilox, which will employ 2,000 people, was also approved.
Construction on these casinos will hopefully begin in September and be opened by New Years Eve of 2006.
