Egyptian Police Upped Protection in Casinos Rather Than Hotels before Bombing
28 July 2005
Days before the bombings in Sharm el-Sheik this week, police received information of a potential terrorist attack. Police believed casinos to be the most likely target, and thus jacked up security around those areas, and not hotels.
Unfortunately, they were mistaken, and many lives were lost. Many Israelis and tourists from other countries visit Sharm el-Sheik casinos to gamble, and therefore it was assumed that these areas would be targeted.
