Talks Underway to Add More Poker and Interstate Slots in Casinos
4 August 2005
Arizona casino executives plan to hold discussions with state gaming regulators about updating the Arizona gaming compact to allow more poker games as well as interstate progressive slot machines. Talks on updating security and surveillance regulations will also be finalized. Executives meet every two months or so, in order to discuss what is best for the casinos in the state.
Revising Keno regulations in casinos will be looked into next. Current regulations date back to 1993, when the only way of showing numbers was looking at balls blown into a tube. Wireless technology as well as other technological advancements have been developed for Keno, but have not yet been addressed in regulatory policy.
The expansion of poker and slots options in casinos would prove to be the most noteworthy changes. Poker is a major item on the bill, due to the fact that the demand for poker games has increased dramatically. Regarding the inclusion of multi-state progressive machines, jackpots would be based on networked play between casinos in different states. These talks are not yet officially underway
