Revenues Are Hit or Miss at Kansas City Casinos

Missouri Gaming Commission statistics show that revenues for two Kansas City-area casinos increased, while they decreased for another two, in July of this year.
Wichita, Kansas, authorities will be closely following revenue estimates for casinos in the Kansas City area. This is due to the fact that there is growing interest to construct casinos in the Wichita area. The Iowa Tribe of Kansas has shown interest in building a casino in the North of Wichita, in addition to two other groups which have not been named.
Globally speaking, revenues increased for the Kansas City market, with a rise of $60.9 million this July, compared to $60 million in 2004.
The biggest revenue-earner in Kansas City was the Ameristar Casino & Hotel Kansas City, with revenues of $23.1 million, constituting a five percent increase from last year's $22 million. Harrah's North Kansas City Casino & Hotel also reported revenue growth of 7 percent, with revenue increasing from $16.3 million last year to $17.5 million. Argosy Casino and Isle of Capri Casino, on the other hand, both decreased in revenues.
