Plans Underway To Impose Restrictions for Wellsburg Casinos
14 August 2005
Proposed restrictions on the location of future casinos passed a first reading by the Wellsburg, West Virginia, City Council, this Tuesday. The proposed regulations were suggested by Mayor Wayne Campbell,
The main aim of the proposal is to restrict the construction of new casinos at a distance of 600 feet from any residential area, park, school, church or another casino.
Current casinos will not be affected in anyway, as they have already received licenses from the state. However, the aim of these regulations is to limit the number of casinos built in the future.
Until now, council has not forbidden the opening of casinos near residential areas, as commercial and residential areas are often very close to one another.
