Tulsa Casinos Demand Experienced Employees
25 August 2005
Four casinos have either opened or expanded in the Tulsa area over the last year, causing the gaming and hospitality sector to strengthen. This boom in the gambling market has created a need for more workers, this in turn creating competition for employees.
Usually casinos demand a high level of experience from employees, even looking in other states if they need to. Now, Tulsa locals are provided with more work opportunities, due to the creation or expansion of casinos in the area. In the last fourteen months, the Osage Nation has employed over 650 employees for two of their Tulsa-area casinos, the opening of a Cherokee Nation casino last year also led to the creation of 500 jobs. This growth spurt has created intense competition.
The Tulsa Community College is now offering courses in which students are able to receive an Associates degree focusing on hospitality and gaming operations. So now, when casinos look for employees with degrees, they will be able to find them in Tulsa, without having to look to Las Vegas, as they have in the past.
