Studies: Casinos Would Generate Major Revenues, As Well As Problem Gambling

Two Studies financed by various business groups have shown that Ohio casinos could generate up to $12 million in revenues, however at the same time, a 43 percent rise in gambling-related problems. Cleveland State University, which performed one of the studies, has estimated that gambling problems in Ohio could increase from 252,000 to 361,000.
The other study showed that 85,000 jobs could be generated by casinos, and approximately $610 million in state as well as local tax revenue would be created. The study also showed that revenues from casinos could reach $4 billion, and a further $8 billion in revenue could be accumulated from other similar industries such as restaurants and hotels.
