Mississippi Coast Casinos Will Close Sunday Due To Hurricane Katrina

Hurricane Katrina is quickly approaching, and after heavy deliberation, it was decided that the Coast Casinos would be closed by 2:00am today. Casino hotels will be evacuating their occupants at various times of the morning, and by noon, casinos need to close their doors to all employees.
Larry Gregory, the executive director of the Mississippi Gaming Commission spent most of Saturday determining when the best time to close casinos was, and after much contemplation, and monitoring the approaching hurricane, it was decided that the casinos would be closed this morning.
Guests at the coast casinos had been given ample time to evacuate. According to Biloxi Mayor A.J. Holloway, Sunday morning was the best time to evacuate, as guests would not have to drive at night, on unfamiliar roads.
