Millions Expected To Be Lost by US Casinos Due To Hurricane Katrina

According to analysts, U.S casinos with properties in areas affected by Hurricane Katrina could experience major financial losses. Gulf Coast Casinos, as well as those in New Orleans, were shut down on Sunday due to the fast-approaching hurricane.
Harrah's Entertainment is expected to be the company most affected by the hurricane, with its 9 casinos in the region. It is estimated that Harrah's will lose $1.8 million to $2.5 million in revenue for each day that its casinos are closed down.
With two casinos in these areas, MGM Mirage is expected to lose $700,000 to $1.1 million in revenues, and Pinnacle Entertainment is expected to be at a loss of $400,000 to $700,000. Boyd Gaming, and Isle of Capri Casinos are also on the list, with Boyd gaming losing $200,000 to $450, 000, and Isle of Capri Casinos losing $150,000 to $350,000 a day in revenues.
