Studies May Increase Possibility of Casinos Coming to Ohio
5 September 2005
The August release of two casino-related studies, demonstrating the social and economic impact of casinos in Ohio, could create a rumble in the real estate market and among business alliances, with casinos now estimated to be a $4 billion market. These studies showed that casinos in Ohio could have a negative social impact, in addition to the expected positive economic impact.
There is reason to believe that these studies will up the chances of casino legislation being passed in Ohio, and some political analysts believe that the chances of legislation being passed in Kentucky also increased as a result of the studies.
The question of where these casinos should be situated is a hot topic. Some say casinos need to be in locations that will help prevent the flow of casino money into neighboring states, while others believe the casinos should be located in, or close to downtown areas.
