Tabcorp Provides Help for Addicts of Mobile and Online Casinos
7 September 2005
Tabcorp, a leisure and entertainment company, has announced its launch of a self-exclusion service, called BetCare, that will give gambling addicts an opportunity to ban themselves from online casinos and their Tabcorp phone betting accounts. Addictive gamblers will also be provided with free access to a counselor from the Wesley Gambling Counseling Service (WGCS).
Usually most people who call WGCS are those who are addicted to poker machines, but now, this new service is open to support anyone with a gambling problem, especially those who are addicted to online casinos. Despite Australian laws against advertising online casinos, Tabcorp is allowed to provide online and mobile sportsbetting.
The main concern today is that online casinos and other internet-based services will increase the number of problem gamblers. Tabcorp hopes to mitigate these damages with their new service, by helping make sure that problem gamblers stay out of the online casinos, and by providing help to those who are addicted.
