After Katrina’s Devastation, Gulf Coast Casinos Working on Helping Employees

Many casinos that were affected by Hurricane Katrina are still working on their assistance efforts, and gathering funds in order to restore what was destroyed in the devastation. The following are a list of casinos that are working around the clock to move things along.
The palace casino is working on a benefit plan for employees of casinos that were destroyed by the hurricane. The imperial palace casino resort has requested that its employees return to work for clean-up work, as well as other duties. This casino hopes to reopen in a few months. Harrah's Entertainment, parent company of casinos like Grand Casino Biloxi and Grand Casino Gulfport, has opened an employees information center, and will cover all health care premiums of employees,
Isle of Capri Casinos will reopen corporate offices on Monday, and plans to rebuild its casino. All hourly employees will receive paychecks every two weeks for a period of 90 days, and salaried employees can expect to be paid for 9 months and receive health benefits. MGM Mirage employees will remain working for the casino, and will receive health benefits. Penn National Gaming, the parent of casinos such as Boomtown and Casino Magic Bay has extended pay benefits, but is not yet sure for how long. Lastly , Hard Rock International and Premier Entertainment believes that it is insured to rebuild the casinos and has offered payroll through the first week of operations as well as pay for the week of the hurricane.
