Columbia Sussex Withdraws From Casino Purchase
28 October 2005
Fort Mitchell-based Columbia Sussex Corp., a hotel and casino operator, has withdrawn it's application to buy the President Casino in downtown St. Louis, Missouri. The Missouri Gaming Commission was meant to consider the Columbia Sussex's application to buy the casino, but did not do so after a letter was sent stating Columbia Sussex's withdrawal.
This withdrawal is considered a breach of contract, and President Casinos Inc. is looking to take legal action against Columbia Sussex Corp. President Casino is in bankruptcy, and this deal was crucial for the casino's survival. Before discovering that Columbia Sussex has withdrawn from the application to buy the casino, General manager of President Casino, Chris Strobbe was hopeful that this deal would go through.
