Boom Reported in British Casino Industry
13 November 2005
The UK has seen 100,000 more casino visitors in the past five weeks, since Britain put a stop to rigid rules on casino entry. The increase in casino visitors comes before 17 new casino sites, which will open in 2009.
Previously, new casino visitors had to register 24-hours in advance in order to enter a casino. This law has been abolished, and has resulted in more people entering casinos. Casino operators are pleasantly surprised, while anti-gambling groups have shown concern that gambling addiction will increase, and players will lose control.
More and more UK casinos continue to open. By 2007, casinos will be able to advertise for the first time, giving the gambling industry an added boost. Casino adverts will be limited in content according to a code of conduct, which will be drawn up by the Gambling Commission.
