Man Dies in Harrah's Tahoe Casino Shootout
4 December 2005
One man is dead and two police deputies injured in a shootout that occurred at the Harrah's Tahoe casino in Lake Tahoe, Nevada, this weekend. No reason for the shootout has as of yet been determined, and police are still trying to discover who fired the first gunshot. The suspected gunman died at the scene, seemingly in the midst of a gunfight with police. A woman believed to have been with the suspect at the casino is being questioned.
Police deputies Dan Nelson and Erik Eissinger, who were in the high rollers lounge investigating a suspicious person, were both injured in the shootout. Both are currently in the hospital but it has been reported that their conditions are not critical. The main floor of the Tahoe casino remained in operation despite this traumatic event. Only the high rollers lounge, in which the shootout occurred, was closed off. Most gamblers on the main casino floor did not even know that a shootout had occurred, and that a man had been killed.
