Casino Shootout Update: Suspected gunman identified
5 December 2005
Harvey Ex, a 53-year-old California man previously arrested on drug charges, has been identified as the gunman killed in a gunfight at Harrah's Tahoe casino, in Lake Tahoe, Nevada. Before the gunfight, a friend of Ex informed casino security that he was acting strangely and that she was worried about his behavior.
Casino Security guards were unable to deal with Ex themselves and called for police assistance. Deputies Dan Nelson and Erik Eissinger were sent to assist and were caught in the shootout. It is still not clear who fired the first shot and the reason for the shooting. Nelson and Eissinger are still in the hospital and authorities are waiting for a statement from them.
