South Korea Casino Bars Raided
9 December 2005
The police department in Busan, South Korea, has arrested the three owners, as well as 18 employees, of “Casino Bar,” an illegal gambling establishment with gaming tables and female dealers. Three casino owners were issued an arrest warrant as they were not authorized by Department of Travel and Culture to open any type of casino.
One of the three casino owners arrested in this police raid was reportedly only permitted to run a restaurant, but had also added five casino machine games to his business. Four dealers were employed at the casino, and approximately 138 million won (around USD 134,000) was earned by the owner from the operation.
Two other illegal casino bars have been discovered in Hwamyung-dong and Jwa-dong, both areas in Busan. Both casino bars made about 5 to 10 million won from exchanging chips to money.
