Illinois Casino's License Renewed with Conditions
11 December 2005
A number of Illinois casinos provide problematic gamblers with the opportunity to exclude themselves from casinos. These gamblers register to become part of a self-exclusion list, which is maintained by the state's Gaming Board. As part of its decision to grant a three-year license renewal to Harrah's Joliet Casino & Hotel, the Illinois Gaming Board has specified a few conditions the casino must meet, such as providing monthly reports including the list of gamblers on this self-exclusion list.
Earlier this year, the Empress Casino failed to provide records of gamblers included in the self-exclusion list and was fined $600,000. Harrah's has not yet violated any of the self-exclusion regulations, and is confident that accurate and sufficient records have been maintained up until now. A further condition requires that the casino produce quarterly reports on the training it provides to its employees about the self-exclusion program.
