Cherry Online Casino Company to Split Up
20 December 2005
Cherryföretagen (otherwise known as “Cherry”), the publicly-traded Swedish online gaming company that owns Cherry Casino, will be dividing into three separately listed companies. The company believes that, by dividing into three branches, operations will run more efficiently. Splitting the companies up will enable shareholders to chose whichever area of operation they feel is best suited to them.
“The Internet-based operations will grow more quickly and with a higher profitability in their own companies, Cherry Casino will receive more attention. I also believe that the market will appreciate having three clear investment alternatives,” said Pontus Lindwall, CEO of Cherry.
The first branch of the company will be Betsson, which will provide online gaming via Betsson.com and other online casinos. Net Entertainment will be the second branch, which will oversee development and sales/licensing of games and gaming systems. And finally, Cherry Casino will deal in casino games and machines, which will be situated in Denmark, Sweden as well as on cruise ships.
