Emerald Casino Loses Gaming License
21 December 2005
The Illinois Gaming Board has officially revoked the gaming license of Emerald Casino. The casino lost its license because it was believed to be involved in suspicious dealings and to have links to the mob. The casino was also believed to have had management problems. Emerald Casino had attempted to open a gambling barge in Rosemont, but the Illinois Gaming Board denied this request based on the above mentioned reasons.
The board's 5-0 vote effectively stripped the casino of its license as it was considered to be dishonest and deceitful with regards to its attempts to reopen the barge in Rosemont. Emerald Casino will appeal this decision, in an attempt to get back its casino license. This is a battle that could take many years to fight.
