Boyd Gaming Plans for Multi-Billion Dollar Las Vegas Casino
7 January 2006
A new $4 billion hotel and casino complex is planned to be built on the Las Vegas Strip. Boyd Gaming Corp. will develop this project, and the old Stardust casino will be torn down so that the new casino resort can be built in its place. Boyd Gaming is also known for casino developments such as the Borgata Hotel Casino & Spa in Atlantic City, N.J., which it co-owns with MGM Mirage Inc.
The casino complex, which will go by the name of Echelon Place should open in Las Vegas by 2010. The complex will include four hotels, a 140,000-square-foot casino, shops, spas, a convention area and much more. The main plan is to work with other developers, such as Hong Kong-based Shangri-La Hotels and Resorts, which will operate small hotels on the same site. Boyd Gaming has already elected Tishman Construction as the construction manager for the casino development. A contractor, however, has not yet been chosen.
Boyd owns properties all over the U.S, in cities such as Michigan, Illinois, Louisiana, Mississippi and New Jersey.
