A New Face for the Trump Casino Company
9 January 2006
Once upon a time, Trump casinos could barley even afford enough vacuum cleaners to keep guest rooms tidy. However, the casino company's luck has changed since it became financially solvent. Trump Entertainment Resorts Inc. is now under new management and has more money to spend on renovations, additional restaurants and better conditions for employees.
For years, Donald Trump's casino company, which owns three Atlantic City casinos, has barley managed to stay above water due to financial debts. Money was scarce, making it difficult to maintain or renovate casinos, which in turn made them less popular. This situation changed when the company's debt was eliminated and interest payments were lowered through Chapter 11 reorganization. Donald Trump also stepped down from his position as CEO, but still remains chairman of the board. James B. Perry, a veteran casino executive, took on Trump's CEO position.
Between the three casinos, the Trump Taj Mahal will be undergoing the biggest change, with a 800-room hotel tower to be added in June. Casino floors at the Trump Plaza and the Taj Mahal will be renovated and an improvement in worker conditions will take effect at the Taj Mahal. Most importantly, more vacuum cleaners have been brought into the Plaza to ensure a clean hotel.
