Casino Keeps Lost $700 Leaving Man Outraged
15 January 2006
Charles Meyer, a patron of Milwaukee's Potawatomi Bingo Casino, received a lousy $25 casino slot play voucher after returning $700 in cash that he had found on the casino floor.
Initially, Meyer believed that the casino would either return the money to its rightful owner, or let him keep the cash if the owner could not be found. He was mistaken and left outraged by the fact that the casino kept all of the money when no-one came to claim it. It was reported that Meyer had stated he would have kept the money if he had known that casino management would not try to track down the owner.
Meyer has now filed a complaint against the casino, and wishes to know whether or not casinos have the right to keep unclaimed money that has been handed to security personal. Tribe officials reportedly believe that the casino should keep lost money and donate it to tribally-run charitable operations.
