Captain Kirk Beams Up Kidney Stone to Online Casino GoldenPalace.com
18 January 2006
William Shatner has moved away from the traditional methods of raising money for charity, by selling his kidney stone to online casino GoldenPalace.com, for an astounding for $25,000. The kidney stone money will go to housing charity Habitat for Humanity, an organization that builds homes for the less fortunate.
GoldenPalace.com already has a number of strange collectibles, such as a partially-eaten cheese sandwich believed to bear the image of the Virgin Mary. The addition of Shatner's kidney stone will be an apt addition to the casino's collection.
Shatner decided to sell his stone when he realized that the money raised from it could build half a house. In the beginning, GoldenPalace.com casino offered $15,000 for the stone, but the offer was rejected by Shatner. Later, the casino agreed to buy it for $25,000. The surgical stint and string used to remove the stone were also included as part of the package.
