Police Impersonator Robs Woman Traveling Home from Casino
24 January 2006
A woman driving home from Resorts Casino in East Chicago, Indiana, was attacked by a regular citizen disguised as a police officer. The man flashed his car lights at the woman, indicating that she should pull over. Believing that the man was a police officer, the woman pulled over.
According to the woman, a man dressed in a uniform, which she thought was either one of a police officer or a trooper, approached her car and suddenly leaned over to try and grab her purse. The man proceeded to yell at the victim and scratch at her face. It is believed that the disguised man stalked the woman at the Resorts Casino, and witnessed her cashing out money at the casino cashier.
Police officers have warned those returning from casinos to be aware of such impostors, and that it is vital that they do not pull over in dark and secluded areas.
