Kerry Packer to be Honored at Crown Casino
31 January 2006
Staff and guests at Crown Casino in Melbourne, Australia, will be requested to observe a minute of silence in order to honor Kerry Packer. Packer, the owner of Crown Casino and other businesses, such as media company Publishing and Broadcasting Limited (PBL), died peacefully in his home last month after sustaining organ failure. The minute of silence at the casino will coincide with a memorial service that will be held at the Sydney Opera House next month.
Since Packer's death, thousands of casino staff members and patrons have sent condolence messages to the Packer family. These mass condolences led to the casino's decision to hold a minute of silence in order to commemorate this great Australian legend.
The minute of silence will be fully voluntary and the casino will still remain in operation during the course of the day.
