Human Remains Discovered at Casino-Sponsored Site
5 February 2006
Construction workers at a defunct Atlantic City fire station, which is being re-constructed under the sponsorship of the Casino Reinvestment Development Authority, discovered a human skull and bones while breaking through a concrete floor last week.
In 2000, the Casino Reinvestment Development Authority purchased the Pennsylvania Avenue station structure for $250,000 after it was closed down by the city due to lack of funds. It has been reported that a State Forensic Anthropologist confirmed that these parts came from a human and that it is highly likely that they have been there since 1921, when the structure was first built.
