First Casino College Officially Opened in Britain
25 February 2006
The first casino college opened its doors to British students wishing to obtain degrees or diplomas in courses such as croupier training, casino management, poker and blackjack dealing, and becoming slot machine technicians.
This casino college is located at Blackpool and Fylde college in Britain and contains a life-size casino setting, complete with roulette wheels, blackjack tables, and poker tables. Closed circuit television (CCTV) cameras are situated everywhere on the set, monitoring each and every move students make. Colleen McLaughlin, a tutor at the college, was reported as saying that the CCTV cameras are good learning tools that allow students to monitor their own performance while facilitating the casino gaming.
People from all over Britain have signed up for the casino college. A Btec diploma can be obtained by croupiers, while engineers receive a degree in gaming technology.
