Rod Stewart Must Pay Back Casino Company
7 March 2006
US District Judge Larry Hicks has ordered singer Rod Stewart to pay over $3 million to the Rio hotel-casino in Las Vegas. The reason for the fine is because Stewart neglected to return money that he was paid in advance for a concert, which he ended up canceling.
The judge has also ruled that Stewart's lawyers must pay $153,483 to the casino in contempt-of-court sanctions and legal costs, as they did not hand over necessary information to lawyers for Harrah's Entertainment casino company. Not that a casino company as large as Harrah's is dependent on receiving these monies, but this goes to prove that even the richest of the rich keep tabs on their expenditures.
