19 April 2006
A maintenance worker, whose name has not yet been released to the press, was severely beaten by a group of young men and women outside a Las Vegas casino. Local police officials were reported as saying that the violent incident took place during late hours of the night. Besides beating the victim, the alleged offenders also robbed him of his cellular phone.
Despite the grave beatings, the victim of the attack managed to get on his feet and walk back to the golf cart he was sitting in when he was first approached by the group. Las Vegas Metro Police Captain David O'Leary said that considering the level of his injuries, it was amazing that the casino maintenance worker could stand up. The victim suffered several injuries, such as a broken collar bone and a broken jaw.
Police officers are now trying to figure out the motive for the sudden attack. According to investigators assigned to the case, the incident is not gang-related. Authorities reportedly said that when apprehended, the suspects would face a number of charges including felony robbery and assault. Police are asking the public to help identify the alleged attackers.
