4 May 2006
It was recently reported that GoldenPalace.com, a popular online casino website, purchased a 7-year-old cancer patient's paintings for $3,000. Maddox Johnson, a small child who is currently fighting against such a terrible disease as cancer, said that when he created his paintings he never thought that his artwork would be worth some much in dollars.
Johnson came up with a brilliant idea designed to help his parents pay his medical treatment bills. Maddox told his mother that they could sell his drawings on eBay, an online marketplace for the sale of a diverse range of goods and services. Tenille Johnson, Maddox's mother, decided to follow her son's wise advice.
During the bidding process, the Johnsons noticed that a certain name kept reappearing. It was the name of Jeff Kay, an official with the aforementioned online casino. Kay's company acquired as many as 11 of Maddox's paintings and paid $3,000 for them. On previous occasions, GoldenPalace.com has made such unbelievable purchases as the grilled cheese Madonna and William Shatner's kidney stone.
