International Men's Magazine Maxim to Share Brand Name with Future Sin City Casino
6 June 2006
It was recently reported that the saucy international men's magazine Maxim intends to lend its brand name to a future Las Vegas Strip casino-hotel resort. According to Maxim's officials, the magazine's parent company, the UK-based Dennis Publishing Inc., has already signed a deal with the real estate developer Concord Wilshire Partners LLC to construct the Maxim Hotel & Casino.
The future gaming complex is expected to boast 2,300 rooms, a 60,000-sf casino, a 3,000-seat concert venue, pool, spa, retail stores, restaurants and a Rande Gerber-run nightclub, to be called Maxim Lounge. The construction of the planned facility is slated to begin in late 2007 and finish by 2010. The casino project carries a $1.2 billion price tag.
Barry Pincus, director of brand development for Dennis Publishing, was reported as saying that a management company would operate the casino resort. Maxim would collect licensing fees from the operation. Ramin Kolahi, an SVP with landowner Concord Wilshire Partners, said that he hoped that the facility would attract not only U.S. visitors but also international guests.
