Trump Entertainment to Open and Operate Casino Resort in Mississippi
14 June 2006
Trump Entertainment Resorts Inc., a prominent casino hotel operator, and Diamondhead Casino Corporation recently inked a deal to construct a casino resort on the Mississippi Gulf Coast. The planned gaming facility is Trump's first expansion project outside Atlantic City since the company emerged form bankruptcy last year.
Trump officials were reported as saying that they intended to develop 40 acres within a 404-acre property in Hancock County, Mississippi, in the proximity of Bay St. Louis. The aforementioned site is owned by Mississippi Gaming Corp., a Diamondhead subsidiary. The cost, size and development schedule for the casino project have not yet been disclosed.
The future resort is not the only gaming facility to be developed in the Hurricane Katrina-ravaged region. The list of Mississippi's other casino projects includes the reopening of Harrah's Entertainment Inc.'s Grand Casino Biloxi and the reopening of MGM Mirage's Beau Rivage. The Beau Rivage, the Gulf Coast's biggest casino, will reopen for business at the end of August.
