Casino Visitor Commits Suicide at the Canadian Seneca Niagara Casino
22 June 2006
It was recently reported that a Florida resident committed suicide by jumping from the top floor of the Seneca Niagara Casino parking garage in Niagara Falls, Canada. Niagara Falls Police officers were reported as saying that the man, whose name has not yet been released to the media, was driven by "personal problems" not involving any casino gambling issues.
Falls Police Superintendent John Chella stated that the authorities interviewed the casino-going victim's friend who said that the man had had no gambling-related problems that might have driven him to suicide. According to Chella, the aforementioned friend told investigators that the victim was depressed over certain personal issues.
The unfortunate incident was first investigated by Seneca Nation marshals and New York State Police investigators. Falls Police were informed about the case after a short period of time. Falls Police Captain Ernest Palmer said that the authorities reviewed casino surveillance videos of the aforementioned incident, and saw no foul play.
