Dead Newborn Discovered in Sin City Casino Garbage Pile
24 June 2006
Las Vegas police officers are currently investigating the case of a newborn found dead in a trash pile inside The Mirage casino facility located on the Las Vegas Strip. According to local authorities, the diseased infant was found by the gaming facility employees during garbage sorting at the hotel's waste facility. The child appeared to have been dead for several years.
Las Vegas police homicide Lt. Lewis Roberts was reported as saying that the child went through a birth, but it was not yet clear whether it was alive or stillborn. The area in which the baby was discovered is off-limits for hotel guests and casino visitors. Roberts also said that the investigation was leaning towards the possibility that the child's mother was a hotel guest rather than an employee.
According to Roberts, homicide detectives were cooperating with the department's child abuse and neglect investigators, who would supervise the case if the newborn was announced to have been stillborn. MGM Mirage casino spokesman Gordon Absher stated that the gaming company was willing to cooperate with police.
